Maintaining A Healthy Vehicle

Hello fellow bloggers, hope you are having an amazing day/night. Today we are gonna talk about how to maintain a healthy vehicle. Maintaining a healthy vehicle can save you boat loads of money in the long run, and it will keep your ride looking fresh everywhere you go. It is very important to maintain a healthy vehicle because as the vehicle gets older, sooner or later things will start to go wrong. Before we get started I should point out that this is not a blog post for people who beat their car and have mechanical problems that need fixing!!!

Lets get started shall we? To begin, the easiest and cheapest way to maintain a healthy vehicle is simply by giving it a car wash every other week. The more you drive around, the more dirt builds up on your vehicle, and especially if you live in the Midwest during the winter. If you rarely clean your vehicle, the dirt can start to eat away at your paint and also cause rust spots. Getting a car wash every other week will eliminate all dirt build up and your car will look well maintained.

When dealing with vehicles there is always a monthly/yearly maintenance such as getting a standard oil change, transmission fluid, break pads, and etc. The most important thing to check is always your fluids. You are suppose to get an oil change every 3,000 miles and there is a reason to that. After 3,000 miles the oils starts to sledge up and stick to all the gears which can cause damage if not changed. This also goes for your transmission, but this should be changed every 20,000 miles if you want to maintain a healthy vehicle. Yes, your spending money to maintain your vehicle, but in the long run that vehicle should have very few problems with it and should at least make it to 150,000 miles.

Changing your own fluids is simply and can save you a lot of money. If you do not know how to change your fluids, you can probably find a do it yourself video on Youtube.

Next, if your car is having trouble with gas mileage or simply losing horsepower, may I recommend getting a new exhaust or air intake. I personally had to buy a new exhaust for my 2008 Nissan Altima, because the previous owner used to live in a town where they used a lot of salt on the roads. The salt eventually rusted out the whole entire exhaust and I was left with a weird funky sound. I also was down about 3.4 MPG then what was listed online and I am sure I had a decrease in horsepower as well. I bought a $600 exhaust which is not bad at all, factory replacement would of cost me around $500 because my car is 12 years old. After a $150 labor charge, I had a increase in MPG, horsepower, and my car did not rattle when I stepped on the gas pedal anymore.

My old air box.

The last thing I recommend is an air intake. A air intake basically replaces the original air box that allows air to go into the engine through a filtration process. The main difference between an air box and a air intake is the air intake forces air into the engine while a regular air box just makes it flow through the engine. More air will increase your MPG and horsepower, it uses natural cool air instead of going through a filtration process. Also, forcing air into the combustion chamber will allow your piston to move more freely which creates more low revs. Most air intakes range around $200-$400 depending on if you get a performance one or not. Thank you for reading, hope this will help you out in the future because I know it has helped me out, have a great day/night.
